Scotty,
I was at your place a week ago and got the tour from Herma and a Djembae for my son. Thanks for all your help. I’ve been reading up on the care and maintenance on my drum. One website suggested putting olive oil on the skin “occassionally” and “detuning” the head if it’s not used very often. How often do you all recommend I do that those two things? Thanks for your response. Jim from Cincinnati
Hey Jim
Using oil may prolong the life of the skin but you will definitely sacrifice tone.I suggest storing your drum so the temp inside the shell is the same as the outside.Avoid exposing you r drum from big jumps of temp and humidity. The skin has a life of its own and will adjust but does not like shock from extreme swings in environment. Each skin is different.Eventually they do break depending on use .We do repair them here in the US so dont worry .Its normal to replace a skin every 2 to 3 years .Thanks for buying from the MM .
